Know and practice the principles of health, safety, and rules of conduct to be used when in the wilderness with a youth group.
Know and demonstrate the principles of signaling and rescue.
Assist in planning and participate with a group in a mock demonstration of what to do if lost, stranded, or injured in the wilderness. Assist in planning and participate as a leader in a search and rescue operation involving a hidden "injured" person.
Demonstrate some skills necessary for wilderness leadership in one of the following areas:
Tropical
Desert
Swamp
Mountain (rocks, ice, high altitude)
Temperate forest
Plain and tundra
Understand and demonstrate wilderness and camping etiquette regarding the preservation of the outdoors.
Identify in the wild, prepare, and eat ten varieties of wild plants.
Learn some of the wilderness leadership qualites of two of the following:
Moses
David
Elijah
Joshua
John the Baptist
Lead a group in a weekend wilderness camping experience, applying the principles and skills learned in this honor.
Completed after the requirements above, for the advanced version of this honor.

What physical and mental preparations are necessary before a wilderness experience?
Demonstrate some skills necessary for wilderness leadership in two of the following areas not completed for the Wilderness Leadership Honor:

Mountain (rocks, ice, high altitude)
Plain and tundra
Swamp
Temperate forest
Tropical
Demonstrate the construction and operation of two types of snares or traps.
Know the points of consideration in the following types of travel:
Glacial
Mountain
Snow
Water
Understand the principles of developing a faith in divine leadership as outlined in Psalms 91.
Understand what steps should be taken for the survival of the wilderness.
Assist in instructing one honor listed in requirement 1 of the Wilderness Leadership Honor.
Build a shelter from non-living but natural materials (such as a debris hut).
Plan and participate in a week's wilderness camping experience, applying the principles and skills learned in this honor.
